the carnival has come to town...

is it the first week of may already? yes it is…carnival has come and gone…and the school year is coming to an end. this year i chaired the art arena booth at maelee’s school…again. i tell you…there is nothing like seeing the whole community come together…and making this event happen for the children. you should see their faces. everyone is exuberant with energy…winning prizes, getting faces painted, cracking confetti eggs and then taking a break and creating in the art booth. next year i’ll actually be chairing the whole carnival…so if any of my mommas happen across this post…you might want to grab your booth for next year;)

carnival

you know as an adult…when you have to do things out of obligation…when going places like carnivals become a drag…but for whatever reason you still have to go. well seeing the excitement on a child’s face changes all of that. things that seem so simple and so “un”fancy…light up children in ways that adults forget about. carnival was a lot of work, but worth every second of it. i am so happy that it was a wonderful day for amory and maelee rose…with the highlights being: hair painting and the pony rides…oooo…plus the confetti eggs too! so here’s to another three years of carnival ahead!

working in the booth meant that i didn’t get to go around with the little ones, but they did stop in quite a bit. and i did get to meet some neat people and see a lot of familiar faces. i am still amazed with how great kelsey did all day long without taking a break. thanks kels. And i am ΓΌber grateful for my other helpers who came to serve their shifts. especially to chris who turned things around and die cut like a master. plus connie and marsha…well you were completely awesome too! thanks guys. then of course there is my family who bring so much joy to my life…just for being themselves. i love you!
